Does low porosity curly hair need protein treatment?

Less frequently than other porosity types, but not never. Low porosity hair's tightly closed cuticle makes it harder for protein molecules to penetrate, which means large surface proteins build up faster and overload develops more quickly. Small-molecule peptides like PurePep are the best protein format for low porosity because their molecular weight allows cuticle penetration even on a healthy, intact cuticle. Low porosity hair that is chemically damaged or has experienced significant heat damage may still need protein support, but every six to eight weeks is a more appropriate frequency than the two to four weeks often recommended for high porosity hair.
